UK residents reaping the benefit of 7 year high in the exchange rate
The first bit of good news for purchasers outside of the Euro zone. If you are using sterling you would have seen a 10% rise in the value of the GBP against the Euro, which is currently at a 7 year high, according to xe.com For us this has meant an increase in inquiries for properties here in Spain. This rise in Sterling means that UK buyers are in a very good position to buy.
Increase in Mortgages Granted
Figures released have shown that there was just over a 14% rise in mortgages granted here in Spain during November 2014 as compared with the same period in the previous year.
Consumer confidence rises
There has been a slow but steady rise in consumer confidence here in Spain, both from those living in Spain and from overseas buyers.
Tourism figures show growth
Whilst we are still waiting for the tourism figures for 2014 from the Spanish Government, it is reported that in 2013 it was a recording breaking year with a 6.5% increase in international tourism , who spent 63.1 billion Euros. Tourism is no longer confined to the coastal areas, more people are looking to rent property in land in order to experience traditional Spain. Towns such as Algorfa, Benejuzar and Rojales offer the visitor a more traditional taste of Spain but still caters for English speakers.
